Garlic Mashed Potatoes
These things are 100% guaranteed to prevent vampire activity within a 100 yard radius of anyone who eats them. Personally tested on a rather convenient vampire. They also make a great topping for the Shepherd's Pie, and can be made into potato pancakes the next day.
Ingredients
- 4-6 red potatoes
- 2 bulbs of garlic
- 1-2 cups milk
- SALT
- Butter, 3 tablespoons, technically optional
Process
- Wash and rough-chop the potatoes into quarters, and place them in a pot large enough to cover with at least two inches of water. Set this on the heat, it's okay if the next step takes a bit.
- Peel the garlic down to where you can get the cloves separated, but don't stress too much about peeling the individual cloves. Just throw them whole in the pot.
- Boil the potatoes and garlic for at least 25 minutes, until the potatoes are soft all the way through.
- Drain. Pick out the garlic cloves and set them to one side; put all the potatoes in a large bowl.
- Squeeze the garlic cloves over the potatoes, getting the paste into the bowl and discarding the outside. Also add the butter if you're using it.
- Mash the whole kit and kaboodle with a potato masher or very enthusiastically with a fork, adding milk little by little until the consistency is smooth. Also salt generously to taste.
- Serve warm! This is a side dish, and should probably go with something that contains some actual protein... probably. Technically potatoes and butter contain all the vitamins needed to sustain a human, but that doesn't make it a good idea.
