Garlic Mashed Potatoes

These things are 100% guaranteed to prevent vampire activity within a 100 yard radius of anyone who eats them. Personally tested on a rather convenient vampire. They also make a great topping for the Shepherd's Pie, and can be made into potato pancakes the next day.

Ingredients

Process

  1. Wash and rough-chop the potatoes into quarters, and place them in a pot large enough to cover with at least two inches of water. Set this on the heat, it's okay if the next step takes a bit.

  2. Peel the garlic down to where you can get the cloves separated, but don't stress too much about peeling the individual cloves. Just throw them whole in the pot.

  3. Boil the potatoes and garlic for at least 25 minutes, until the potatoes are soft all the way through.

  4. Drain. Pick out the garlic cloves and set them to one side; put all the potatoes in a large bowl.

  5. Squeeze the garlic cloves over the potatoes, getting the paste into the bowl and discarding the outside. Also add the butter if you're using it.

  6. Mash the whole kit and kaboodle with a potato masher or very enthusiastically with a fork, adding milk little by little until the consistency is smooth. Also salt generously to taste.

  7. Serve warm! This is a side dish, and should probably go with something that contains some actual protein... probably. Technically potatoes and butter contain all the vitamins needed to sustain a human, but that doesn't make it a good idea.
